OUTREACH AND TRAINING
The arts have a valuable role to play in the community and Spraoi has long-recognised it's potential to positively influence the life experience of people of all ages. Spraoi sees it's outreach and training projects not only as a contribution, but also as an investment in the future of the arts and, in particular, of the company itself. The area of training is an integral element of our volunteer policy.

Spraoi can facilitate one day workshops or full-time arts training programmes, either externally or in-house at the Spraoi studios.

Many of these projects have been undertaken in conjunction with state bodies, including FAS, Waterford Area Partnership, Waterford City Council and Integrate Ireland.

Work to date includes:

Spraoi Drummers
An annual month long percussion project, based at Spraoi Studios, involving 35 young people, aged between 8 and 18, culminating in several performances at the Spraoi Festival.

Getting Stuck In: Spraoi/ Waterford Area Partnership
A two week long project involving 40 children based at the Spraoi Studios. The children design, build, rehearse and perform their own section of the Spraoi Parade.

The Hullabloobaas
A monster-making workshop with 30 children, paraded through Waterford city centre as part of Hullabaloo children's festival programme.

FAS Arts and Culture Course
A 12 week fulltime introduction course to the performing arts, undertaken by fourteen participants, aged between 18 and 25.
