Irish Premiere
Originally from Afghanistan, now based in France, Nasser has built his company around the wonderful kite-flying traditions of his native country. At Spraoi he brings his passion for kites to the Irish public for the first time with three very special presentations from Omar Nasser and his company Nasser Volant.
- Kite-Flying: A twice-daily spectacle of over 100 colourful kites will take to the air. All the kites are between 3 and 5m tall, and include a custom-made Chinese dragon. The show will be accompanied by specially a commissioned music score.
- Jardin du Vent: A wind-garden based in the People’s Park over the Spraoi Festival weekend. This is an outdoor exhibition of multi-coloured kites and windmills, where the public is invited to walk through the various exhibits.
- Kite-Making Workshops: Learn how to build your own kite using various materials with Nasser and his team. Based in a marquee in the Peoples Park, open from 1pm on Saturday and Sunday. For children of all ages (from 3 to 103). Adm: €4 per person, or €10 for 3 people.
