Brand
new for 2009, Spraoi hosted a four day long event based in and around
the People’s Park in Waterford City. This wonderful 19th century public park, located at the junction
of William Street and the Park Road, has leisurely paths to
walk, relaxing seating areas and plenty of greens areas in which to
wander. And it came alive with new sights and sounds from July 2nd
to 5th as large crowds descended on the park over the four
days to enjoy this new festival.
The
Spraoi Parade 2009 was the undoubted highlight of the event, as Spraoi presented “Mr. Menagerie and his Clockwork Creatures” at 3pm on Sunday afternoon. A new route, a new time and a new date
all
added to the excitement of this eagerly anticipated annual production in
the city’s summer calendar.
Also
featured at the event was “Levity II”, Architects of Air new Luminarium structure, “Flower Power”, an installation built by Spraoi and members of the public, and on Saturday and Sunday
afternoons there was music and other events to keep everyone entertained.

the event, and see Spraoi Parade page for further images.
