Route Here
Featuring a diverse sample of music in
city centre pubs throughout the Spraoi Festival. Local,
national and international bands feature on the route,
with the emphasis very much on quality acts over the
three days.
For 2008 The Guinness Rhythm Route will play host to
varying sounds from around the Globe. Highlights
programmed so far include The Red Stripe Band, with their
unique blend of boogie woogie and jazz, described as the
closest thing around to Jools Holland his band!
Theres also the return of Split Whiskers, and if
you enjoy rough and tumble blues based slide playing
finger snapping foot tapping raw rock 'n' roll, then this
is the band for you. Also on the bill are Paprika
Balkinicus, from Eastern Europe, whose blend of
traditional and Gypsy music from the Balkans and Eastern
Europe is a joy to hear.
From Ireland, theres the haunting melodies of Tir
na nOg, with Leo Kelly and Sonny Condell, one of the most
influential songwriting and performing groups to have
emerged from Ireland. Theres also the Ben Reel
Band; Ben is the latest original singular artist to
emerge from the wonderful Irish tradition of great
singer-songwriters. The Irish songsmith has crafted works
both spiritual and emotionally charged while also tinged
with the gift of turning a phrase with the best of them.
Also to look forward to is the ever popular Soul Reason,
belting out great blues and soul music and getting you
all in the mood for fun.
The full Guinness Rhythm Route Guide will be available to
download here from July 14th.
